Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and returning to PC gaming after many years on console.

I have a quick question if you loverly people wouldn't mind, I had a PC custom made, however the GPU died on the 3rd week. It was the Devil 13 r9 390x2 like the title says. for those that don't know it come with a Razor Ouroboros they retail at £110+ and the cards themselves are harder to come by then you average card. The mouse was one of the selling points of the card, either to sell on and get some cash back or to use myself which i have been doing the latter.

Unfortunatly the guy who built the rig can't source another one from his supplyer to replace it and is offering a swap for 2 Saphire 390. (after much probing he has offered to replace the mouse with a cheaper one. again not over the moon about)

Would you consider this offer reasonable and fair.

I'm within my 30 day returns period. under the consumer rights act 2015 there really nothing the builder can say to stop me getting a full refund however i'drather just get back to gaming quicker with a fix.

I've had a couple of let downs with this company on this machine already, One swapping out a LED kit for a cheaper model without my consent which i let slide as it did save a real trival amount of cash and i didn't want to be faffing about. also the led strips inside the rig have already started to come away from the case and dangle about inside the rig slightly.

The whole rig cost 2250 to build inculding monitors or thats what he charged me anyways.

so would you?
1, settle for the offer.
2 push for a razer ouroboros aswell,
or 3, just send the thing back and buy else where.

(My view on it is that although technically the mouse was a gift incuded with the card it was a selling point and should not be over looked out of princapal, and they way this has been dealt leaes me worried for the rest of the build. and im leaning on just getting a refund and buying else where)

thanks for your time please share your thoughts

For me OcUK are building some fantastic systems now and you'll get proper support. A nice aftermarket 980Ti would be equal to the 390 Devil card in general performance (without the niggles of Crossfire/SLi). I'd personally be tempted to return it and buy again from a reputable source...

I mean check out this beauty!

But in answer to your question then 2 390's would be fine BUT I think they'd be cheaper overall than the Devil card so I'd be pushing for that nice mouse as compensation at the very least ;)

If you're happy with the system, I'd push for them to replace the graphics card like for like. Definitely the most hassle free idea.

Isn't the devil card 2 x 390x's? Why would you accept 2 x 390's? Or did you forget to put the X on the end?

personally, they have let you down too many times now, get your money back and spend it at Overclockers on a 980ti!

I'd say the 2x390x's would out perform a single 980ti but there's lots to consider, heat, noise, power draw. also, not every game supports crossfire properly, some games not at all and others you have to wait for driver updates which still don't always fix issues. Having one card ensures as smooth an experience as possible.

2x 390's are roughly equivelant to the Devil 13 IIRC, because the Devil 13 cores are slightly underclocked.

Even so, I wouldn't accept that. I would push for a like for like replacement, or just a re-fund for the whole thing and buy a different PC from somewhere better. (Like here! :D)

I'd go for a full refund tbh.
Even with the graphics card issues, fobbing you off with a system that is not complete to the spec you paid for is gash, even if it is only something like an LED kit.

If I went to a restaurant and asked for a steak medium-rare and they brought it well done, I know i'd send it back.

They don't sound like the best company to deal with. As others have said, if they're screwing you around now, they'll likely do it again - which would be MUCH worse outside your 30 refund period.

Send it back, get a full refund and buy yourself something from here with real customer service.

Return the whole PC for a full refund and buy a new one from OCUK. No company who knows what they are doing should be building PC's with Devil 13's in anyway. :p

Yes they want the mouse back with the broken card.

so would a single 980ti perform aswell as crossfire r9 390?

Absolutely no chance they would be getting the mouse back! It came with the card, which has now failed.

It is similar to GPU's that ship with free games. What would the company do in that scenario, given that the games would likely already have been redeemed.

I had this scenario with a card and OCUK said do not worry about it. Keep the games.

I gotta agree with the send it all back crowd. It's hard to understand why people buy elsewhere than come here for advice cause they've been screwed (I don't mean the Opening poster but this is a regular thing).

If need be a little bit more money is a small price to pay for quality customer service.

I buy from OC, but I also buy elsewhere, reason people come here is its a good community forum with people who know their ****, OC need to work on their postage prices though, that is the major turn off for some.
