So these issues are now fixed, but I thought I would post here in case anyone had any similar issues in the past and could see what the solutions were.

So essentially, for the past 48 hours, I've been noticing that I've been received terrible BT Infinity speeds, so I rang up BT, informed them about it and asked if they could check my line, they did and informed me I was getting 80mb to the line, so I was like, okay, no problems, I'll do a router restart and get back to you.

I did a router restart and it didn't fix it, so then I checked http://downdetector.co.uk/problems/bt-british-telecom to see if there was a problem and low and behold there was, but not really that much in my area, nor were my services down. I was just received very low speeds.

So I left it for a day as I thought the issues around the country could be why I was having slow speeds myself. So I woke up this morning and did a speedtest on my Devolo adapters and was getting the usual slow speeds, I then did a test on my Wifi card and was getting much, much higher and everything was working fine on those 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands.

Now with the Devolo 1200+ adapters being rather expensive, I wanted to get to the bottom of this, so here is what I tried.

  • Changing the plug sockets they were inserted too
  • Tried doing speedtests in safe mode
  • Resetting both adapters
  • Disabling power saving modes
  • Changing settings in my adapters via windows control panel

I was doing disconnects, replugs for the good part of an hour, finally when I thought **** it, I came back upstairs, restarted the computer and the speeds were fine again, full 80/20.

So has anyone had similar issues and if so, what did you do to fix it?

Have you tried downloading Devolo cockpit? It interfaces with the adapters and tells you the speeds they are syncing at.
I've used it a couple of times on Linux and it's worked relatively well for me and let me set up what I needed until a permanent solution was put in place.

May have saved you some time.

And remember, those adapters are shoving RF up cable/wire that was never intended for it, they are literally working miracles so the fact it works is a bonus.
