Has anyone tried the Devolo dLAN Highspeed II HomePlugs? A kit is available for about £75 with three plugs and I am considering using it to overcome WiFi issues. A possible (faster) alternative would be the devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy but that costs the same amount for only two plugs.

What concerns me is that my house was initially built about 90m years ago and has been extended over the years. As a result, there are three distinct fuse boxes (two original with 4 fuse wire plugs and one with RCDs) with associated wiring. It is only 85 Mbps as opposed to 200 Mbps but I am not sure how significant an issue this would be.

Any relevant experience would be of interest . . . thanks :)

What will the network be used for? I used homeplugs for years, always got about 60Mbps sync rate between my two plugs and our house is old (100 years easy) and the wiring isn't exactly modern.

Actual throughput was rubbish though, my wireless is quicker (homeplugs about 9Mbps real / wifi 18Mbps real). I now run gigabit cables and haven't looked back.

The immediate interest related to general curiosity, iPlayer, browsing the web & perhaps online gaming.

However . . .

Having done some more research, it seems pretty much certain that HomePlugs are not viable on different ring mains, let alone on circuits connected to differen fuse boxes so I guess it is not a route worth pursuing . . . c'est la vie.
