Hi all

i recently got myself the devolo dlan 500 tonight was spent trying to set it up.

so following the instructions i have set it up to work as a WAP using the clone feature to copy the router settings which it appears to have done as when i try to connect to it using my iPhone i can only see the one network ie the devolo default one has gone.

but when i connect using the dlan i just get the circular bar for ages and no actual connection i have to walk back into the range of my router to get a connection back. any ideas?

not sure if it helps but i don't get the unable to connect message either

any help greatly recieved

There's a reasonable chance that the clone feature has set the same SSID for both WAPs. There's nothing unusual about this and it's fine.

You should be able to connect to the Devolo via the LAN and have a look-see at the settings.

There should be an option it set it up manually if the cloning hasn't worked. There's a manual available for download if they didn't provide one.

As above, check the settings manually if possible, make sure the wireless channel is different from the router wifi (eg if router is on channel 1, set the dlan to channel 6 to avoid interference). Make sure the gateway is also the router's IP address as well and if the dlan has its own DHCP server, turn it off.

If both wireless has the same name then it will look like 1 wireless network but you can use apps to see the 2 seperate wifi signals. Android has Wifi Analyzer but not sure what the iOS equivalent is.

hi guys so i have looked into my router its channel is set to auto, which im assuming the dovolo has cloned.
do i just pick any channel/hz from the drop down boxes when i set them to be apart or is there specific ones. also this may be a dumb question but my wifi router is dual ban and as a result i have a 2.4 and a 5 connection do i set the ssid for both bands the same and let the devices decide which to use?
thanks in advance

For 2.4GHz use 1, 6 or 11. Leaving them set to auto should allow them to sort themselves out well enough.

For 5GHz use whatever you prefer.

Having the SSIDs the same or different is a personal choice. I keep 2.4GHz and 5GHz different, but do whatever works for you.
