These look like a nice interesting option! Powerful homeplugs with built in wifi mesh too!

Anyone tried them here yet?

Interesting but confusing for me. If it is using powerline as its backhaul (and I'm not sure I've understood that correctly) then it sort of has few of the advantages of mesh and all the disadvantages of powerline. Seems the only "mesh-y" thing about it is no need to configure the AP portion and maybe better seamless hand-off of devices between access points?

I too though would be interested in how they operate in the real world for someone on here.

Well consider this maybe? Why do people employ power line units in the first place? Because they give a more solid performance than wifi?

And if the backhaul of mesh is typically wifi, then why wouldnt using a power line instead for this not be viewed in the same positive light?

Ie A backhaul over 30ft via wifi or latest tech powerline?

I wouldn’t say solid at all - at least not in my experience. I’d say instead people employ them because they have further reach because the home’s electrical wiring extends further than a typical WiFi signal. A mesh system I thought had you place them spaced apart in a way so you overcame those reach issues wirelessly, thus eliminating the flakiness of something like powerline.

I've tried powerline a couple of times, All it achieved was to bring my sync speed down from 75mbps to 25mpbs in the space of 24hrs.
I ended up just using wifi as it was more reliable. Now I've just finished pulling in a couple of cables with a decent single access point in my loft which now gives me full signal throughout the house on 5ghz.
No harm in purchasing a mesh system with a good returns policy and trying it. If it doesn't work then get your money back. At least you tried. I've heard good things about Google mesh and also the Tenda MW3 seems ok.

I had a wifi connection from my study to some home music/entertainment stuff about 15ft away through a wall. I could see the wifi suffer when people walked around in the room. Homeplugs = solid connection though.

If I was to go dedicated Mesh I'd probably go Orbi RBK50... Or something of that ilk.

But this Devolo unit (Magic 2) seems to be getting some good reviews. Good powerline performance with good wifi (mesh) on top...

That does sound like a solid house you have there. There was a thread on here not so long ago about someone buying the orbi mesh system so they could do away with the power lines. Don't think they had much joy and returned them.

Have you tried just broadcasting on 2.4Ghz?
