I've got my router and a Devolo Powerline 200Mbps on the first floor and a Devolo Powerline Wireless adaptor in the basement. However the signal strength is pretty poor due to the distance between adpators. Is there anyway I can boost the signal? If I put another Powerline adaptor on the ground floor would that make any difference?

Cheers

Some adapters are capable of creating 'mesh' networks (which is basically what you're describing). It'll depend on the chipsets used, and I've only ever seen it mentioned in relation to AV500 adapters.

Thanks for that. In that case would replacing the 200Mbps adapter by the router for a 500Mbps increase the strength?

Cheers

I don't think you'd see any benefit just replacing a single adapter.

There's no guarantee that AV500 adapters would be any faster than the existing AV200 adapters over a long distance.

There are some useful Powerline reviews over at SmallNetBuilder that are worth a look.
