Hi all

Iv got a DFI SLI-DR and few weeks back the NF4 chipset fan suddenly became very noisey. Yesterday it decided to pack in all together

Anyone got any advice on what to replace it with

Iv only had the mobo about 8 months so find it very strange its stoped already

cheers Paul

Only 1 problem

On the DFI board the NF4 chip is located to the right of the PCI-express slot
which means my 7800GTX sits over the NB fan and nearly touching

leaving no room

Oh yeah, oppps, i encountered that problem as well, iw as about to order it then i checked and my fat x1900 goes straight across it. couldnt you move your gfx card down a slot?

you can bend the pins on a zalman fanless northbridge cooler. There are also other coolers that are lower enough to go under a card if you look hard enough for them

RMA it if its within the 1 year, you don't have to send it to the manufactuer, the shop has to accept it back by law. :)

Otherwise your kinda stuck, I doubt DFI were thinking that much when making these boards.

I just hope the Lanparty Conroe boards are better  :(

I'd go for a zalman passive (just bought one myself), you can bend the pins to allow for graphics card to fit. If you RMA you will get the same noisy unreliable fan, but if you dont want to spend any money then RMA it.

wouldnt that heat up your card then. as the heat is conducted along the fins.... onto your card?

The fins aren't touching the card, and the airflow will carry the heat away so I doubt you'd heat the card up much, I've never had a problem with it (I was the first on OcUK to mod the Zalman like that).

Yup i wish OCUK would stock the Jing Ting.. Its the perfect solution for those who's gfx card passes over the NB.

Due to the layout of components at the rear of my 7800 i couldn't even fit a modded Zalman :(

Best remove that link mate, its a competitor.

I'll bet you a quid it would be a good idea to remove that link mate ;)

I didnt think it mattered if it was a foreign site?! Although i could be being abit dense. :D

Edit// Just read, if they ship to the UK its a no no. Told you, dense. :o

Evercool VC-RE NF4 chipset cooler :)

As recommended by DFI-Street[I can't link you to the thread though as it contains links to competitors. Use the search function :)]

Complete rubbish!!
Your sale of contract is between yourself and OC's and therefore they must under consumer law provided warranty for this product for 6 months / reasonable/expected life of product.
What they write at point of sale makes no difference what-so-ever, ie their not worth the pixels there displayed on :p
My mum has been a Consumer Lawyer for over 10 years.
