Hi,

just setup my new rig...

despite making sure 3 times the case connectors are plugged in the power light and the hdd light do not come on....however the reset and power buttons work...

also i have connected front x which means if i connect the earphone + mic leads from front x i cant connect the case connector for earphone n mic to the mobo same with the 1394 connector at front of case.....can someone clarify if this is true? or am i being a wally?

please help

thanks in advance...

First thing, are your Power and Hard Drive LED headers the right way up?

Diodes only allow current to flow one way through them, so chaning which pin each wire is on should make them work.

Any chance you could re-phrase your other question please?

thanks for the help on question 1 will try it out asap currently the writing on each case connector is facing upwards towards the hsf is that right? or **** they be facing downwards??....

question 2:

with the dfi sli dr mobo u get front x, front x comes with same connections as which are on the front of the case...i.e. 1394 connection.....

so as the mobo only has 1 1394 socket on the mainboard where i can plug the wires from either front x or the front of the case one set of connections will be left out....either the ones of front x or the front of the case.....

thanks mate

Well its to late for me to remember which way up, depends on the motherboard aswell. Just switch them over and it all should work. :p

As to the second question, if you are limited to one firewire connection, then that is what you have to live with. Unless your runnning a Audigy 2 or the like which may have another internal connection.

3 more hours then I will make it to 24 hours up. :(

I want a Premium! :p

It's true, he really does - although he'd probably strip it and put it in a lanboy or something :p

As for the connectors, do it the way your mobo manual suggests. I've plugged all mine in but I have no power LED because my mobo is one pin short, power, reset and hdd LED all work though. Put them in the way the manual suggests and if they don't work try turning them 180 degrees (make sure your pc is off first :p)

Look at your motherboard manual and it should show the +ve or -ve pin for each LED header. A red or white wire is positive. Black wires are always negative.

With LED's it's critical which way they are turned around.

And yes, you are correct - there is no way to split the motherboard headers to share them between FrontX and the case connectors. One set will be non-functional. Sorry.

right well unplugged all case connectors and reconnected them....the writing on them is facing upwards towards the cpu lets say....

also the front usb case connectors do not work either....so i unplugged them and ensured they are all facing upwards which means the writing on them is facing the cpu....

is this correct?

I know it is noobish, but I either follow the manual or try one way round, it dont work try the other with the headers.

With the USB one pin should be blocked out, so they can't be put on the wrong way round. :)

the easy way to put all the wires in right is to look for the little down arrow on the jumper pins, as thats the first wire pin.

looks somethink like this

as for the front x connectors thats easy to just use your manual
and it should show how all the wires go onto the mother board

Yaay the case power light and hdd light is working :D

yep front x is easy but I just wanted to double check its impossible to connect all connections on front x and front case connectors to mobo...

re front case connectors....

if you look at the lian li pc7 installation guide and the mobo manual they contradict eachother because

for : 1394 connection case guide shows these wires which are correct a)shield b)VP c)VP d)TPB- e)TPB+ f)VG g)VG h)TPA- i)TPA+ now of course I have these wires as im looking at them....however the mobo manual shows you where to insert them these wires but some are named differently : a)tpa+ b)tpa- c)ground d)ground e)tpb+ f)tpb- g)12+ fused h) 12+ fused i)key j)ground....

as you can see the mobo manual shows c, d, g, h and j which are not apart of the case connectors...perhaps they are using diff names....

can someone kindly elaborate or help me.....im baffled....

thanks

Add me to msn, sorted someone out last night with a thermaltake. :p

Some cables will only be needed for certain things, the motherboard has to cover all eventualities.

not having any success with the front case connections....i followed the mobo manual and the case manual and just dont know where i am going wrong.......

helppppppppppppppppppppppppppp?

thanks
