Hey, I built myself a computer for university 2 years ago getting my components from overclockers but recently ive been having trouble with it. Currently when i turn it on all the fans spin up and stay spining until the system beeps.

The components are:
Opteron 170 @ 2.5ghz
DFI Ultra-D NF4 socket 939
GSkill DDR 2x1gb 500mhz
Saphire ATI x1900xt
80gb samsung boot drive, 500 + 250gb storage drives.

The beep is a long beep followed by several short beeps and according the the manual thats a graphics problem. I removed the graphics card and it made the same noise so im pritty sure its that. Although the 4 error lights on the motherboard spend a lot of time at 3 lit 4th one flashing with the graphics card in and this is checking the ram i believe?

Im really confused this is the first and only computer ive built and id be really greatful of any help or suggestions.

Thanks
Peter

I had the same motherboard, and I had the same problem, its definitely a problem with the graphics card,

Do you not have a way of confirming by borrowing a graphics card from somewhere, to test?

Just so happens I managed to borrow a spare card today, the card is said to be working but I have tried it and I still get the same problem. The error lights spend along time on the 3rd lit 4th one flashing, checking the ram latency I assume? it then goes down to one light and makes the same beep. Ive tried the 2 pieces of ram I have both seperatly in the top orange slot and one in both orange slots and still having the same trouble. Surely both sticks of ram cant be the problem?
