nearly finished my upgrade however im missing ram and ive heard that my board the dfi xfire cx3200 can be fussy on ram. So if anyone could suggest some ram it works well with it would be much apprieciated. Im ideally after a 2gb daul channel kit with high fsb speed to allow for more overclock headroom so preferably more than pc3500.

Thanks in advance

Hi I know that this ram is good with the later bios Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3500LL Pro TwinX (2x512MB) CAS2 (MY-104-CS), and i am on Mushkin Redline which is also nice and stable and has been ever since release bios

Mushkin 2GB kits

Mushkin 2GB DDR XP4000 Extreme Performance Dual Channel Kit

Mushkin 2GB DDR XP4000 Redline Extreme Performance Dual Channel Kit

Does anyone know how well the above two kits work in this board? As ive got an opty 144 and want to push it to the limit so need pc4000 at least.

thanks for all the help already given.

PS if anyone could point me in the direction of a good reliable amd overclocking guide that would be great as i am a total noob when it comes to amd and have only clocked intels before.

regards

Hi

I am running 2x 1GB PC-4000 Crucial Ballistix Slot 2 and 4 (orange) on this MB with no problems

I wouldn't recommend these, I'm still not sure Crucial have fixed the stupidly high failure rate.

You do know you can just use dividers to keep the RAM speed around PC3500 whilst you push your CPU speed up? Due to the nature of the A64 platform you get very little performance hit, which is totally outweighed by the increase in performance due to increased CPU speed.

Basically, use a divider, save your money, get a great performance boost :D

Tight timings rule :D

Yes they do rule, but not at the exspense of cpu speed. I thought the same until reading this i did the same tests(as near as damn it)and came to pretty much the same conclusion as Happy Games. On the A64 platform cpu speed is king.

Hi interesting reading , i was going off my old tccd stuff at 2-2-2-5 compared with my infineon stuff at 3-3-2-8 the first on a divider and the second on a lower divider if you get my drift ,
the tccd gave higher benchies than the infineon and so thats where i got my love tight timings bit from
