Right got a few big problems...

1. I have a replicated folder in DFS called "apps" this apps folder replicates between 8 DCs, recently a new DC was added and now whenever i putsomething into he "apps" folder after about 5minutes its gone again, the folder blanks itself

what the hell is going on?

2. the Netlogon folder isnt updating, ive recently cleaned out all the old crap for the sake of saving space, removed it from 1 DC and it hasn't replicated the change to the other DCs

Yet to test if the netlogon replication problem is also causing any AD problems though as its a school network and no ones about to moan about any problems

Anyone have any ideas im pulling my hair out

EDIT: i am getting some DNS errors on the new DC:
The DNS server was unable to complete directory service enumeration of zone 73.18.172.in-addr.arpa. This DNS server is configured to use information obtained from Active Directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and repeat enumeration of the zone. The extended error debug information (which may be empty) is "". The event data contains the error.

Constant errors in FRS:
The File Replication Service has enabled replication from ABLOCK-DC to MC-DC for c:\apps after repeated retries.

right..

The only event log messages ive had for FRS are regular ones when doing reconfiguration EG "The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from ABLOCK-DC to PDC for c:\apps using the DNS name ablock-dc.Archway.local. FRS will keep retrying.
Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning.

[1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name ablock-dc.Archway.local from this computer.
[2] FRS is not running on ablock-dc.Archway.local.
[3] The topology information in the Active Directory for this replica has not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers.

This event log message will appear once per connection, After the problem is fixed you will see another event log message indicating that the connection has been established."

Followed by the warning message of "has connected after multiple retries"

Yet i know for a fact the netlogon folder is definately not replicating

EDIT:
As for DFS
EventID: 2010
The DFS Replication service has detected that all replicated folders on volume C: have been disabled or deleted.

I'm starting to wonder if it would be worth completely removing the DFS from all DCs and remaking it

Ok ive not found that the folders are in fact replicating, but something has changed

It used to be that when i went into \\dcname\Global\Apps i would see the 5 folders that were replicated but now instead of seeing these 5 folders im seeing just 1 folder, that folder is named "DfsrPrivate"

If i look for these folders via a domain controller i can see them BUT for some reason there are very randomly named folders along with them such as: Start Menu_NTFRS_4a0778a9

There are 2 of those for each other folder, I've never delved too deep into replication programs etc before and this is maddening >_<

AH this is appearing a lot on the primary DC:

The redirector failed to determine the connection type.

under the system section of the eventlog

EDIT: woops was meant to edit there

EDIT: Right, completely removing the DFS of the apps folder seems to have actually unstuck something somewhere and FRS is working properly again, ive remade the DFS connections and fingers crossed once its finished replicating everything works as it should :D
