Bought a sofa from DFS about 3 months ago.
We took out insurance which covered stains and ( we were told wear and tear and fabric defects etc etc )
Anyway, the cushions you sit on are loosing shape, my wife plumps them every night ( the cushions ) to reshape them as told by the sales guy.
Just called DFS now, explained about the cover we took out and they said it does not cover fabric and sofa defects.
There sending someone out tomorrow to look at the cushions so thats ok, but its the fact they have said my insurance doesnt cover what I was sold.
Im not going to discuss this with them until they sort the cushions out, but im a tad worried what I was sold and what im now told I have.

And my wife also said were where sold the insurance that covers fabric and sofa defects, so i have definately been mis sold

Anyone have any experience with dfs or this type of issue

You have bought expensive toilet paper. The ink its printed with is worth more than the value of the insurance you have.

Sorry.

On the plus side, if the good are not fit for purpose, give them three chances to rectify and then reject.

the insurance doesnt cover that but the normal warranty could

cushions do lose shape though so that may just be the way they are

To get a few scuff marks fixed on our 3-piece, it was a massive hassle. First of all we had to call them (which was fine if it wasn't for the premium rate number) to explain and basically convince them that it was an accident. After convincing the random bloke on the end of the phone, we then had to wait for them to send paper work out to us, to which we then had to fill in and point out in the diagrams where the damage was and how it happened, on what date. After we did all that, we then posted the paperwork back (paying for the postage ourselves) and then waited around for the next few days until we got a call from them. This was to arrange an appointment for a guy to come out and inspect the damage. When the guy eventually came out, he literally went all CSI and started taking samples of the leather (actually cutting scraps from the inside of the furniture) and taking photos. After all this messing he went and got his bag of colours, matching the nearest colour to the 3-piece, and just applied it with a brush and dried it with a hair dryer. SIGH!

I'd never buy any extra cover again from from places like SCS/DFS it's a massive con. Also I won't ever trust another saleman.

Buying from DFS, oh dear :(

You might as well buy from the local second hand furniture shop as the quality fails quickly once you get the sofa in. Plus it was NEVER 1600 quid reduced to 800 reduced to 400...EVER

Have to say, I have an electric reclining sofa and chair from DFS. The power pack went on one, they came out and replaced it the same day and part of the mechanism snapped on the chair, they came out and replaced the same day. Not bad for 2 years of constant use and a 4 stone dog jumping on and off the chair and sofa.

Odd - Does the sofa not have sample bits sewn into it? Our sofa (admittedly from Furniture Village) has material samples sewn onto the label under the main cushion for just this purpose, I thought this was standard practice?

:D

On a more serious note, we bought this 3-piece 4 years ago and have learnt a lot from the experience. These days we avoid all big chain stores when buying furniture, instead we buy from the smaller independent shops as you get so much more quality for your money and a better customer service.
