DFS is set up at one site with 2003 r2. I have had to re set it up and the last time i worked with DFS i ended up wiping the source folder, over a year ago. I have to reset it up because we just got a new link in and ive reseeded the folder a few months ago and the dfs has been up and running ok but due to the problem last time, i set it up so the traffic is only going one way from the source server to the receiver.

Ive just discovered that although its working ok, some old files that were on the initial seed that no longer exist on the source server have not been removed from the receiver server.

Now this amazes me because it was so easy to wipe the entire source server but now it won't even delete the necessary files on the receiver server that don't exist on the source server.

I am concerned if i enable the replication the other way it will go and delete the wrong files.

is DFS always this rubbish or have i misconfiguration it?

hi thanks for helping.

If i create a text file on the source, it creates it instantly at the receiver and if i delete the file on the source, it removes it from the receiver instantly. So i know it seems to be working, there is just some files that are on the receiver side that are not on the source server that have not been deleted, that are a result of the initial seed.

I am going to try and restart the services and see if that helps.
