Anyone tried this new beta? v3.01.29 it is. It seems Netgear have removed it from their site but I have it on my HDD if anyone wants to test it.

It seems a really solid firmware from what I've seen since flashing yesterday.

Any major improvements/new features?

None that I've noticed but I only use the standard features, I've read its just a more soild firmware, less connection droppping etc.

Makes you wonder why Netgear cancelled it though.

I am adding here rather than starting a new thread as its about the 834 in conjunction with a netgear 311 pci card.

Hope OP doesnt mind

I have encryption turned on and wireless network works ok, however general internet browsing ( ie bbc sport pages) is a lot slower over wireless than over a fixed network cable ( pc is temporarily about 2 metres - yes two lol) from the router with no interference, now I know there would be an overhead because of wireless itself and encryption but its reallyyyy slow over numerous sites at various parts of the day with a really upto date rig and brand new wireless kit it should be as good as a standard network shouldnt it?

I am more than happy to d/l any network testing apps, to check speed comparisons please let me know what to d/l and i will report back my findings

PS I am on the default firmware - not sure which one as I am presently at work

I downloaded the firmware last week but yet to flash it. I don't think there was much addition to it with really a fix with VPN and ADSL2 support.

Might give it a try tonight.

Yeah its worth a try IMO.

I've just uploaded it here for anyone else wanting to test it, I won't be held responsible for anything going wrong though, you all have access to google to be able to research this firmware before making your own minds up.

Any feedback on this firmware welcome:)
