DG834G making no attempt to sync

I've been using a DG834G v2 for the past 3 an a half years and yesterday for some reason it lost sync while I was away for an hour.

I checked the line with a speedtouch usb modem and the line is fine but I just can't get this netgear to sync. I've reset it several times, left it off for a few hours to cool down etc and I've updated the firmware but it still doesn't make an attempt.

Not even a glimmer of light appears on the front panel for the internet.

I've run out of options so I'm thinking the modem end of the router has finally died.

What do you think?

Certainley sounds like the modem part of the router has failed, if you have tried it with an other modem and that successfully syncs then router must be at fault.

Time to treat yourself to a new shiny router.

certainly sounds buggered, could try a different power supply but doubt it would make much difference

could try putting some other firmwares on it, dd-wrt? use it as wireless bridge, extender or something
