The popular router on here.

Im on the second one of these in 3 weeks, another £10 down the pan?

The first one died terminally and could not be revived, this one looks good came with the bits and is clean. But i have issues with wireless lack of connection with the internet after 200hrs uptime?

A reboot of the router sorted it but should this be necessary?

Are there any settings to say flush the cache as i have p2p on 24-7?

Its better the the be there router i have but only just.

The main pc is wired to the router and has not suffered connection problems so its just the wifi side of things.

Mmmm that should be okay,i have that on one of my routers
If you decide to upgrade it (i would not reccomend it )Check out the other thread on this forum as the latest`can` bork your router :)

The DG834GT isn't great with wifi.

What you can do if a reset helps cure things, is set a script so the router reboots at say 4am. Here's what I use:

Go to Advanced -> Custom Setup -> Enable custom Cron table -> copy and paste this:
0 4 * * * root /sbin/reboot
-> Tick the Enable custom Cron and click Apply

But if he keeps rebooting the router won`t the exchange think there is a problem and raise his snr margin thus lowering his speed?:)

Not if it only reboots once a day.

Also, try placing the router on its side, this allows air to circulate through the unit better preventing overheating.

Thanks for the tip benftl

I shall see how it goes without the script for now but if it happens again it will be first on the list.

Cheers

Tried the script for a week and sure the bandwidth has gone from 6.7mb to 5.3mb disabled it now and just hope through tweaking it will go back up, using 80% on the snr slider and its up to 5.7mb at the mo.

Will see how it goes but as a side note the problem may have originally been ip address issue, i have used the reserve function to enable a fixed ip for each device on the network.

Although i will say its been stable since the script but the loss in bandwidth is a bit much to bear :D
