Hi,

I recently bought a DG834GT as my wireless performance on the Bebox (Bethere isp) was pretty poor. I have flashed it to the latest DGteam firmware (1.03.22 1018 023o), and it has this really annoying habit of having to wait 1-2mins to connect every time i reboot my PC. (system tray network icon refreshes for about 1-2 min)

I do not experience this issue with the bebox and wondered if i am missing a simple option, or if there was a way to remove this issue?

I have set it up without a account login, get dynamic, DNS and mac code automatically. (I have set the mac code to the bebox but the problem remains)

Modulation mode ADSL2+ only

SPI firewall off

MTU 1500

Force broadcast arp on wan link (box ticked)

Wireless running on auto 108 (WPA2-PSK)

I just find that every time i reset my machine, or start it up in the morning from an evening shutdown, it takes about 1-2 minutes to connect, however i do not turn off my router and cant understand why i dont have an always on service

Regarding the lights, they all stay on (green) apart from the Ethernet 1, which flashes orange after a reboot, but when my machines reaches the bios screen it turns green again. If i turn my home pc off, i can surf the internet via wireless np, however when i start up my pc, its takes 1-2 minutes to connect and i just cannot understand why its doing this, like i said if i put my bebox in i get the connection 100%, even after reboots, straight into Google and away i go

i have turned off the windows firewall on both public and private network but sadly even after a restart the network icon appears to be searching for a connection again.

Any ideas or thoughts would be gratefully appreciated

thank you

Your PC is obtaining an IP address from the router, some routers, firmware, network adapter combos just suck. Try setting a fixed IP for your PC and see if you still get the pause on startup

thanks for the input guys, i have tired hard resetting the modem and reconfiguring it but again no luck.

I believe d_brennen is right as the PC hangs waiting to gain the IP due to my service having a dynamic IP (BeValue ><)

Well looks like the Bebox goes back in with the crappie wireless, and no snr tweaking.

You can still set a fixed IP for your PC, just make sure it is in the same range as your router. E.G. 192.168.0.249

On a home network with few devices it's unlikely that setting a fixed IP like that will cause any problems with other devices

Yeap im on windows 7, like i said if i place swap to the bebox after a system reboot i can get straight into windows, the network icon the tray is ready, not loading. However the netgear after a system restart causes the network system tray item to reload for like 1 minute, with at first showing the little yellow mark as no connection, and then after a minute or two network available.

Pardon my lack of knowledge but could you kindly brief me on how i would go about trying this out?

What OS? It's basically the same for all Windows

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections

Select the network adapter you are using

Double click Internet Protocol Version 4

Change the values from Automatic to the settings you want

Here I've used 192.168.0.249, use the address you already have just append the last digits to something out of the way like 249

The default gateway should be your routers IP (info can be found by typing ipconfig in the (Start > Type CMD in the search box) command window) and so should the default DNS server
