I bought this router 2nd hand to replace my bebox

to cut a long story short i flashed the netgear firmware with the latest DGteam firmware and connected to it via ethernet (no dls cable plugged in as i wasnt intending on connecting to the internet at this point)

I logged into the router no problems and was able to access the different menues of the router just fine

however after around 10 minutes the menue pages start timing out and it became unusable, this laso happen last week while connected to the new, it was fine for 10 minutes then internet disconnected and the menue pages stating timing out like so:

any ideas what could be causing this time out ?

also........

the router currently refuses to work on my machine (altho it has i the past) so i plugged it in to my sons pc just to test it and it worked fine (until to time outs)

is the router bugga'd ?

Are you sure that's flashed correctly? Latest DGTeam firmware for the DG834GT should have the buddy Christ in the top left.

Im starting to wonder if thats the problem, the flash seemed to go fine but i hadnt really used the router before that so ive no idea if this problem already existed

would it be worth flashing back to the netgear firmware then testing the router again ?

When I flashed a Sky branded DG834GT I had to also perform a hard reset, by placing a paperclip end in the small hole between ariel and LAN ports for 15 seconds, to revert to default login details. So reset default password from sky to password.

ok well i flashed back to the latest netgear firmware , then connected it to the net, it connected fine, went into the menues fine, then after 5 minutes it diconnected from the net and then the menue was back to timing out :(

If you still have the problem, I've returned to my DG834GT after reading that the latest official Netgear firmware had issues.

Have flashed it using the previous version, 1.02.16 and it seems to have corrected issue with being unable to connect using wired when computer was turned back on, and refusing wireless connections after router was on for hours. Probably typed this too soon as not tried after router has been on for 12 hours.

Downside is you lose WPS2 security.

I ended up throwing it in the bin lol, couldnt be bothered messing with it so whizzed it out

Funny thing is if the bebox me be a crap router but set it to bridged and it's a better modem than the dg. Grab a wrt54gl, flash tomato and use the bebox as a modem.

I've been using a dg since '05, wish I'd bought a 54gl in '05, makes the bebox/dg look like bad jokes.
