DG834N - Random Issues.

Posted on Netgear forums, may as well try here before messing about.

Please read the following thread to the end, some issues have be solved, but other have risen.

Any solutions/known issues; I'll re-write my problems.

Latest;

- Router will ping, torrents will run fine, can't login to msn or browse the web, tried 2 different DNS servers (OpenDNS and my ISPs DNS) says its connected to internet.

- When I try to assign the adapter IP/Subnet/Default Gateway/DNS, it will connect to internet fine but Vista diagnosis says both DNS are unresponsive.

- Both PPP and Internet light go off, don't come back on. Requires router to be restarted.

- Internet light goes off, comes back on 20 seconds later.

- PPP light goes off, requires router to be restarted.

- Wireless light goes off, requires router to be restarted.

- Connection suddenly drops, says 'Local Only, Limited Connectivity'


All are completely random, whether browsing or gaming. I've tried;

- Updating the fireware, twice.

- Automatically getting settings and assigning settings (see above, bullet point #2)

- Everything you read in that thread.


Please advise.

If there are no fixes, should I go ahead and RMA it? If so, which out of the 5 numbers on the box is the serial number? XXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (13), XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13) or XXXXXXXXXXXX (12).

Sounds familiar, I hope you got sorted Manbread. I've just sent DG834N Number 4 back to Netgear and waiting on number 5 to arrive in return through RMA, all have been to do with general lock ups that increase in frequency until the unit is no longer usuable. I've also had the wifi failure issue, although sometimes has done and light has stayed on until rebooted.

I even asked Netgear if I could swap for another product as I have lost a lot of faith in this model now, but they refused.
