Hi Everyone,
I have a DLink DGL-4300 router which is great as it can handle a huge amount of concurrent connections without any difficulty. Only issue I have now is that I need to use it on ADSL. If I get a Modem like the DSL-320T will this have an effect on the concurrent connections the system can handle?

Any help much appreciated

Paul

Thanks Radderfire, Im not really sure why but I just wanna check.
The router (http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=370&) claims to be able to handle a large amount of connections and it definately does it better than my old linksys wrt54g router, which just stops you being able to connect to anything else when you fill up the NAT table.
I use BitTorrent quite regularly and also share the connection with my housemate that does the same. So it is quite important to be able to have a large amount of connections.
I just dont want to get an ADSL modem to allow me to use the router and then be back to where I was with the Linksys.

Do modems not suffer from limits on connections?

Which WRT54G do you have - the Linksys firmware has a long limit on connections whereas with third party firmware it deals with hundreds of connections without a problem.

The modem doesn't care how many connections you're opening because it doesn't have a NAT table - so long as it is just a modem.

Currently its using this firmware:

Firmware Version: v3.01.3 - HyperWRT 2.0

But havnt updated it for years as its at my folks house and I dont live there anymore so theres no point in me playing around with that. This firmware did make it a bit better but did not solve the problem.

Its a WRT54G ver 2.0 so I know its a few years old and Im not trying to use that again or knock it as it s a good router but I didnt have much luck at the time.

I like the DGL-4300 for its flexibilty so I want to stick with it and as you say getting a modem wont limit the connections then I think this is the route to go.

Would I be right in thinking the internet connection type in the router would be PPPoE?
