DGM 27" IPS

Anyone got this monitor (OCUK have been selling them for ages). There's a few in the B-Grade stock for a good price.

Wondering whether it's worth the risk for the saving as it's B-Graded and only a 90 day warranty. Alternative is getting one of the Korean imports (also a risk!).

I have one. Its a really good monitor for the price. The image quality and colour vibrancy is outstanding. It does have a few draw backs though. The stand is flimsy and perfectionists will want to replace it with something more sturdy. There are also a few reports of some users having issues with the power brick. Mine has worked flawlessly though. If something does go wrong at least ocuk look after the (3 year) warranty.

Thanks for the LtMatt. Wondering if the warranty is more than the 90 days for standard B-Grade stock, but I've posted in the CS section to clarify.

It will be 90 days only and then any remaining warranty will be with the manufacturer. Something to definitely consider in my opinion as id imagine you'd have to ship he monitor back to Korea. Ocuk often put this monitor on offer for £299-£319.

5UB has confirmed that it's just 90 days warranty. A real shame as that's a deal breaker for me. I can't spend £260 on something with only 90 days warranty.

I'll keep an eye out for the offers again as I could be tempted if it was on offer at £299. That's not miles over what the Korean ones go for these days, with the added advantage of UK seller and 3 year warranty.

For the extra £40-£50 its worth it i think. Don't risk it.

These come up on special offers from OC from time to time - near £300. I have one (bought at £319) and am very pleased with it. No dead pixels or light bleed or anything like that. The quality at maximum resolution is excellent - nice and vibrant with good colours. The monitor isn't the nicest looking (although it's by no means bad). Functional rather than sexy. The stand is a bit plasticky and wobbles when you adjust the tilt but at least is has VESA mounts for an alternative stand or arm if you want to use one of those (although you have to take the monitor case apart to unscrew the current stand). Perhaps the black level isn't the darkest you'll find, but it's very minor for general use. I don't really play games in general so can't comment too much on any blurring or dropped frames etc.... The 3 year return to OC base is good and at the price it's excellent VFM and at least you'd have piece of mind on returns over the cheap Korean ones.

At my old work we bought a batch of DGM monitors with an inherent fault. They do fix them in the UK. But they don't do any advance swap out. So you just have to do without the monitor if it breaks. I seem to remember the turn around was about a week.

It was bloomin annoying. Over a space of a year I sent back 22 monitors. That said it was defiantly a batch issue, since the fault never reoccurred on a repaired unit and the other DGM monitors we had were ok.

EDIT: I much prefered Iiyama, courier turns up with a replacement monitor. He unboxes the replacement and then boxes up the broken screen.

Calibrate it properly (or use settings off the internet) and it really improves the monitor from how it was straight out the box.

Calibrate it! You can't use the settings of TFT central they make it too dark! Each monitor will end up being manufactured slightly differently so you'll need to alter the settings that suit you. Some monitors will be more like the one reviewed others will be far worse.

Whats the warranty on this monitor when you buy new from OCUK? It's the cheapest with 2560 x 1440. or is there something better?

I was looking at the b grade units too so some good info in this thread, think I'll avoid and save more for a higher end retail unit :)

Not sure yet, I want a larger display (27") but choosing between 120/144Hz and 1440p is tough especially as I've never used a display over 1080 before.

Me neither. For me I game more on my Sony Bravia HDTV 1080p. I do game on my monitor, but not as much. That's why I might get a good 1080p backlit LED in stead. Still don't know. I'm thinking 1440p would be a waste. Their way too money money. I do want 27" though.

My dilemma is that I currently have 120Hz but at 24", not too sure if 1440 @ 60Hz would feel like a downgrade after the super smooth high refresh rates I currently have.

You'll notice a big difference moving from a tv to a decent monitor, when I did I saw colours on the monitor that just weren't there on the tv :)
