Recently bought this monitor from OCUK, lovely monitor but I'm having problems getting the picture just right. I've tried SpyderPro calibration but it makes the screen really warm and not as bright as I would like it. So that was a waste of £100.

I noticed ingames that black wasn't truely black and was kinda grey so I had a play around with the settings and I came across DCR mode, turned that on in starcraft and It made the game look so much better, blacks were black, and the grey tint that came across the screen was gone. I've found out that it's the contrast that's causing the greyness but I cant seem to get rid of it unless I go into the Nvida settings and change it that way but I find it hard to find a good balance when using those settings.

Anyone else have this monitor and have the same problem?

Also, will it make a difference if I use a HDMI or DVI connection? currently using HDMI.

You need to use the Dual link DVI cable supplied to get the full 2560x native resolution. As far as im aware you can only use 1920x1080 with HDMI which is why it wont look right :)

I was running the 2560 resolution on hdmi lead, is that possible? I don't really understand that, is it like the recommendation not to run it?

I've dug out the dual link dvi cable and connected it, the colours seem a lot better? maybe I'm just fooling myself but I'm not sure if the lead does that? :p

I believe HDMI 1.3 is capable of 2560x1600, you should check if the monitor/graphics card both support that - though I'd feel more comfortable using dual link DVI.

I've switched now from the hdmi to the dual dvi.

I hope that's fixed the problems for you. It can be a bit of a PITA trying to sort out a 1440p monitor, most places have no experience with them so can't answer questions regarding them - I bought longer dual link DVI cables for my 27", turns out they had dual link connectors but the cable was only capable of carrying a single link signal.

It did kinda, but still not able to get the monitor just how I want it.
