Hi Guys,
Bought the lovely cheap 24" DGM monitor from OCuk last July and its just decided to give up on me. Seems there have been a few problems with these.

Have sent a webnote for replacement but wanted suggestions in case I end up getting a new one.

Looking for 24" again and would be used for gaming. Possibly might go for 2 depending on price and situation.

At the moment on another computer I have a Dell 2407WFP which is a pretty decent monitor so could get the 2408WFP (or any idea on when the 2409WFP will be released?) but other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Paul

The DGM 24" PVA panels were stunningly good value you'll be hard pushed to get anything as good in the same price bracket i.e. £200. If you can afford it i'd recommend the HP LP2475w over the Dell 2408WFP its around the £400 mark and its an IPS panel. If your looking for something more towards the budget end then perhaps the Asus VW246H which I hear is pretty good for gaming it's a 16:9 (1920 x 1080) TN panel.

Was your DGM a VA type panel?

I would be interested to know what you think to your replacement screen in comparison with the DGM.

My DGM is on its way out, very strange 'burn-in' in the top left and other parts of the screen.

Just bought a LP2475w to replace it and will write back once received and tested.

Could do some side-by-side shots if you want mr x?

The OCuK DGM is available elsewhere as a Yuraku for under £200 - I guess the question would be if the Yuraku name is good enough for you.

I'd also be interested to know how a different non-TN 24" will match up against the OCuK one if you go down that route (I figure mine will die one day..)

I went from a DGM S-PVA Panel to a Dell 2408WFP also S-PVA and was pretty pleased. If anything the Dell is slightly better image quality wise and miles ahead in build quality. I also own a Samsung TN panelled 24" screen and to be honest, even though the PVAs are better, there isn't a huge amount in it. Although out of the three, I still prefer the Dell.

The DGMs come with a repair warranty, so you might as well send it in and get it repaired, even if you just sell it on afterwards. I have to say though, their service isn't great, although the repair contract has changed hands a few times so they might be better now.

Well I have a Dell 2407WFP and like you said Speed the build quality is much much better. Its not my main monitor though so I wasnt too fussed about the build as long as the picture was good enough which I didnt really have any problem with.

Unfortunatly, I might have to just go with the repair rather than replace but we will have to see.

How much would this still fetch if it does get repaired and I choose to sell it on? Its almost a year old.

mr_x_plosion:
Im not sure if mine was a VA panel or not and can't really check now that it doesnt even turn on but I will definately check if I get it back.

Sin_Chase: If you could do comparision between them that would be good.

If it is PVA, one went for £150 collected in the FS section recently. Another is currently forsale here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18021309

OK cheers Speed.

If there DGM repair turn around takes aslong as I have read maybe I'll have enough posts to actually get into the Members Market!
