I bought a cheap DGN2000 of the bay, but I'm having a bit of trouble setting it up properly.
Firstly, I have flashed it with the DGTeam firmware and I am online right now typing this post, so its working in that respect.
Problem is, the wireless is currently set at Channel: Auto, Mode: "Up to 130Mbps". Whenever I try and set it to "Up to 270Mbps" (which is Wireless N I believe??) it won't let any of my computers, iPods, 360 or anything connect.
The network is currently unsecured as well, because reading down the side (the help section in the routers GUI), it says that some of the security options like WEP, WPA etc are for "B and G speeds only".
Now on my network, I have 2 wired computers, 1 wired PS3, 2 wireless G Laptops and an Xbox 360. Now the 360 is the only Wireless N piece of hardware on my network at the minute. It is located upstairs, so each time I want to play it, I unplug one of the ethernet cables from one of my PC's and just use that. The reasoning behind me buying the DGN2000 was so that I could use the 360's built-in Wireless N.
Now am I right in saying that I should be able to set it so that Wireless N and Wireless G run at the same time at 2.4Ghz, rather than 5Ghz or something? This is all a bit foreign to me as networking is one aspect of ICT that I hate.
I thought if I set the router to just Wireless N that it would be backward compatible with all my wireless G devices? But also give Wireless N speed and range when a device is Wireless N enabled?
So basically:
Internet is working atm
Currently set to "Up to 130Mbps" (is this N speeds as well?)
Xbox 360 won't pick up wireless at all, want it to connect at Wireless N speed and range. Range being important here.
Hope this makes some sort of sense!
