DGN2000 bust - need new router!
Well it looks like my DGN2000 router has given up the ghost just about, The LAN ports have totally stopped working. For the past 3 days the main PC that is hooked via ethernet cable to the router is just not communicating with it at all and Windows just says "Unidentified Network". I have plugged my laptop and my GF's laptop directly to the LAN ports as well, and the exact same thing happens. The router's control panel does not detect that anything is connected to the LAN ports either from looking in the "attached devices" page.
I have googled and I was already aware that the DGN2000 router suffers from overheating problems (This is the second DGN2000 I am on, the first one I only had 4 days as I had no end of wireless problems and the retailer I got it from replaced it) and it looks like that mine is overheating and causing this problem but the only cure is to send it back to Netgear for a replacement - but it looks mine is just out of warranty
So now I am on the look out for a cheap replacement ADSL2 router. I was hoping to get the slightly older DG834G as I used to own this router and it's the best Netgear I have ever used and I thought they would be going for pennies these days, but from the looks of it nowhere hardly sells them anymore or they are still going for £50 at other places! (I got my V3 one for £35 off ebay back in 2006). So apart from Netgear, could anyone recommended another good router that is under the £40 mark? I'm trying to avoid ones on ebay as I can only pay for it via Credit Card and not many sellers/shops on there accept them.
Thanks all - Liam
