hey all,

I have a dc that I'd like to use as a DHCP server.

When i open the DHCP applet from admin tools I find that it saids that it isn't connected. It tells me that I need to authorize it by clicking tools and the authorize.

Once I click on authorize it just sits there and does nothing. If I go to another DC running DHCP and right click on 'DHCP' at the top and select 'manage servers' I can see that my new server has been added to the list.

Thing is, I'm still unable to do anything with the new server as it still tells me that I need to authroise it against AD.

I have given it a restart but no fix. I've un-authroised it and been to every DHCP server and from the 'manage servers' link I have made sure that it isn't listed and then tried again, but still no joy.

Has anyone got any experenice with DHCP troubleshooting that can help me??

Thank you in advance

:)

No I heven't.

Ive just uninstalled it. I'm giving the server a reboot and I'll install it again and post back my results.

I know the NIC is good as I'm working on it remotly! :)

domain admin.

I've also checked all the DHCP services and thier running as system. I even tried changing them to using the domain admin account, but no fix :(

I've also noticed that after trying to authorise the DHCP server, the other 4 DHCP servers on our domain (two in another office, one other in my office) all show the server I'm trying to get working as authorised in the 'manage my authroised servers' window.

Why would it show up there accross the domain, but show as unauthorised on the machine itself??
