Why does it keep disconnecting and can I set up a static IP address for me and the other people sharing the connection in my house?

Its really annoying, ive tried upgrading the firmware but last year it worked fine. Its a DI 604 rev D (european)

edit - given myself a static IP address of 100 disabling DHCP. Will I need to add other connections?

edit 2 -added another address but it said mac address already in use. Instead of 2C at the end I have it 3C and set the ip address to 192.168.0.101 instead of 100. Will this work for my mates computer or will the mac address thing not work like that?

edit 3 -tested and mates net works. Lets hope it holds out for a while.

Sorry your not making much sense. The term "DHCP disconnecting" means very little and makes no sense.

What is the range of your DHCP Scope? ie 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.50?

If you want to specify static addresses use one that lies outside of the DHCP scope as the DHCP server does not have knowledge of addresses manually configured within its own DHCP range and will still allocate an address even if you have specified it manually, this would cause a conflict on the network and render the machines using the addresses useless.
