DHCP/static IP/2 routers

so I am now moving back into my place that got burgled.... and now I cannot remember the settings I used to make it work.

I have 2 routers.

Router1: Sky hub
Router2: my Cisco Linksys E4200 router.

I want my sky hub to be giving DHCP. Thats fine, and the Cisco router has the DHCP disabled.

sky hub IP Address is changed to the 20.168.x.x range
Cisco router IP Address is changed to the 10.0.x.x range (Dont ask).
I set the Cisco to use the Static IP and giving it the following settings:

IP Address: 20.168.1.1 (Sky hub)
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 20.168.1.1 (sky hub)
DNS1: 20.168.1.1 (sky hub.. that is what it reports)

So here is the problem:

the computer is connected to the cisco router but does not appear to be giving the DHCP IP from the sky hub, but only its own range of IP's in the 10.0.x.x range even though I disabled DHCP on the cisco router.

The router address of the cisco is 10.0.1.1 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0

any ideas where I am going wrong?

I want to connect the computer to the cisco router because not only due to the wireless but importantly has a 1GBPS port where as the sky router does not.

so here is the deal:

I want them to be seperate IP range/network range. The cisco router is indeed setup with the wireless (the sky one is turned off).

In terms of the wired stuff, the main computer is connected to the cisco router WIRED. I want that to not give the 10.0.x.x IP when connected but only the IP given from the sky hub which has DHCP on it.

I did this before but now I cannot remember the settings as I did a factory reset.
 
DHCP disabled on linksys.
Assigned it 10.0.1.1 with the subnet of 255.255.255.0
Disabled DHCP and when I did that, I wasnt able to get any access to the internet or even to the router config page unless I manually set the IP to 10.0.1.2 to access the cisco router config page.
 
hehe understood what you are saying.

purely for isolation and testing reasons. That's all.

I swear I was able to do this before without issues. Oh well, nevermind.
 
hmm, cant seem to get the router to work internally. so in other words, if the cisco router has a streaming device connected to it, and I have a laptop connected on the sky router, it has to go all the way back out and back in again and does not communicate internally.

but if I plug the laptop in the cisco router where this streaming device is... all smooth.

thoughts?
