*NOT STRICTLY A MEDICAL ADVICE THREAD BUT AFTER SUGGESTIONS TO LOOK INTO*
Hi all,
Basically an elderly relative has type 2 diabetes despite denying it to the family for ages so we've not been able to help. They have trouble with their memory and eyesight etc but I won't go into many details.
I am trying to create a do's and don'ts page of foods that help and ones to avoid because they have trouble with eyesight (leaflet would be too small) and memory (at the moment it's little things but I'm keeping a watch). I've colour coded it and based it on advice from the NHS, diabetes.org and another medical site to confirm. I've done similar with other things (plug sockets etc) around their flat to help them and will be sticking it on their fridge or cupboard to remind them.
Obviously I'm being really careful with this and am going by the advice of their doctor as they have other medical issues and will attempt to consult. I'm really highlighting the need to be active (which doctor and specialist recommended) which is one of their issues and little changes to their diet.
This is all personal and this should and will be taken at face value to investigate, however I'm just after options.
The reason for this thread is I am after people's suggestions for:
What foods do they eat?
What foods to avoid?
I know medical threads are not allowed but I'm after what people found helped them and that is all.
