i'm just re-installing this now , i bought it( few months back) but never played it

well if anyone has same problem do that then it works.

1.) Go into c:\program files\diablo II\ or wherever you have the game installed.

2.) Right click on "game.exe" and go to properties.

3.) Click on "Compatibility" tab

4.) Place a check in the box that says "Disable Desktop Composition"

5.) Click Apply. Click Ok.

6.) Run the game! It should load and play normally once this option is checked.

When I last played it, I went for the Barbarian. I just explored everywhere, to gain experience really fast. However I don't think there is a correct/incorrect way to begin this, it's just a your individual gameplay style, I played the same style in Oblivion and Sacred too. If your new to RPG games, then it might be easier to be a Barbarian, since they are the easiest character to develope/progress

Just have fun, that's all that counts :)

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but it's appropriate for my question :)

I'm going to buy Diablo 2 + LoD today after work. My XPS Laptop runs Vista so this has already taken care of that :)
I would also like to know if there are any texture packs/graphics enhancements to download since release? The only reason I ask is that my native rez is 1920 x 1200 so the game prob wont look that hot. Any other mod suggestions would be great also

You can force AA and AF on in CCC (or whatever nvidia use) which rounds the gfx a little, though it also does the writing too which can make it appear a little blurry.

Other than that it is good oldskool gfx and gameplay, which i find are hard to beat (well gameplay anyways :p)
