Hi

Was wondering if anyone else experiences this. When it happens it is a little lag where the whole screen animation for a fraction of a second, lags (animation not smooth) and it quickly corrects itself. Strange thing is it does not happen during intense fighting or action sequences but it can really happen anytime.

I had FPS turned on and there was no drop in frame rate constant 60. So it doesnt seem to suggest it GFX card related. Couldnt really check ping but everyime it happened but when i do the bar is green with low 30s. Only thing i can think of is i do play with vsync. Could this be server lag or connection lag or could it be down to my rig??

Only really noticed after 2.0 patch came out.

Any advice welcome.

Cheers
Kyo

I get this on D3 as well, although it is not consistent. I actually assumed it was my net connection since I play over WiFi.

My GFX card is a GT555M, not sure about the driver though, will check when I am at home.

yeah same never had problem with graphics wise as i have a 580 GTX so more than capable of handling it before.

Was reading about microstutters and Blizzard did eventually acknowledge this but that was a while back. Most of my friends dont get it though :(

Are you sure you're just not on act III?

The screen shakes every 10 seconds it's meant to reflect the keep getting hit by the catapults and it's annoying as hell messes with my eyes all the time!

I remember reading a thread on the D3 forums about a guy complaining of weird screen tearing/lag turns out he was just in act III :p

Aside from this there is other people reporting similar issues I found since putting it on my main SSD and turning some things down a little its improved a lot, also reports of the servers causing some of the drops, for me it always seems to happen in act III stronghold area's / bridge of korsik

Funny you mention this because i get exactly the same thing, and install it on my SSD didn't really solve the problem, I have changed countless settings and it didn't fix the problem, but last night i read on the forum about turning off On access scanning on Microsoft security essentials fixed the problem for someone as that was scanning all the new files diablo opens which causes the stutter, i only tested it for 20 minutes or so last night but i think that might of actually fixed the problem for me.

Basically check if your Anti Virus has any kind of on access scanning, i turned it off completely last night but you can put in an exception which would most likely do the same thing and keep your system secure.

I get this now and then, also like you it happens at anytime and doesnt seem to be connected to how busy its getting on screen.

i7 950@4g and a gtx 480 here.

InHuman - i read that for some, it could be seek time on HD but like you mentioned SSD doesnt necessary help because i dont get any performance on anything else. Reading Perf mon confirms this. So pretty certain not HD related. Still good excuse to get a SSD though :D

AV - I use AVG so Access protection could be a possibility but i checked, i already put a exception onto the diablo folders. Could try turning it off altogether as a test. Wouldnt recommend turninig it off full stop though.

Only thing is turning my Nvidia Control power managment to full power.

Baplad - It can happen anywhere. :(

I know its probably not the answer but i found this a week ago but the setting was already set the way he mentions, worth a look though i guess.

So I started messing around with the nvidia control panel, and found out the culprit was "Ambient Occlusion". It was set to "Performance"... On Global settings I turned it to "off", and in program settings I turned it to "Use global settings (off)".

I know how you feel though, i get it at the most random times, a lot of times when there aren't even any mobs on screen!

yeah it like a judder, power management in nvidia control panel didnt do a thing :(

Going to try disabling heuristics on Resident shield in AV and even turning it off to see if it makes a difference. That way at the very least it rules out most client side issues.

I would say if you aren't running it on a SSD that is the most common reason for the stutter, when the game came out it was horrendously bad if you didn't run it on a SSD.

I had this issue on launch, I had to set one of the options for max fps to 60, or it was turning vsync on or off (or both), forget which. I also started to play it a few days ago and had the same issue and fix.

Well tried turning off AV and heuristics etc Not a shred of difference.

Just enabled everything back the way it was. It does not stop me from playing i suppose just irritatiing.
