They should just dump Diablo 2 in to the D3 engine, it'd be amazing that way. Lots more work, but a WAY better remaster.

This is something I've wanted to happen for a long time, to the point where I'd be happy with Warcraft 1 & 2 in the Warcraft 3 engine, which I still go back to every now and again as it was one of my Favourite ever titles.

So essentially, shut up and take my money!

Does it confirm a remastering? I thought it was just hiring people to keep the old games working with current hardware and software, because playing them becomes increasingly difficult as tech changes.

It certainly sounds like a Remaster of some sorts going by the responsibilities for the job posting.

I guess it might just be to make sure they work with Windows 10 etc. but they did say 'restoring to glory', so hopefully that means some sort of HD release with widescreen support.

according to a posting on diii.net the following is what Blizzard told Gamespot...

We need engineers to help maintain our legacy games. We have a history of maintaining our games for many years. Our earlier games are still played and enjoyed today, so we want to continue to maintain them for those communities.

its keeping the game playable with current software + hardware, nothing more.

+1 seen a interview at blizzcon where they confirmed precisely that, updating all games for current tech and OS etc for it all to run from within the bnet app

Responsibilities
Make gameplay first again on modern operating systems.
Create conditions for experiences that look as good as they play.
Own implementation and curation of features new and old.
Combat hacking to improve multiplayer.
Diagnose and fix all the things: crashes, deadlocks, overflows, heap corruptions, etc

Perhaps a chance they will up the resolution?

If you loved D2 go play of exile. It's very heavily done in the same style.
Free to play as well.
