This is the timeline of issues I've had to date, I'm really hoping one of you could define what the problem is (I've got my own theory but I want someone else to confirm it!)

First computer BSOD at vista loading screen

I open the pc, tamper with RAM and then the computer won't switch on (monitor doesn't display, but fans and lights work)

I replace graphics card, nothing.

I play with different combinations of RAM, nothing.

I dig out an old PC and put my PSU and GPU from the broken pc in the old pc.

Runs ok but then crashes when playing games (when under stress perhaps?)

So I swap my graphics cards on my frankenstien rig and I still get the same problem.

The crash isn't a BSOD, it's a proper freeze including sound.

I'm thinking that perhaps the entire problem could be caused by the PSU? At least, that's what I'm hoping.

I would say RAM, have you ran a memtest?
If you have 2 sticks try using one stick at a time.

It is possible its the PSU, but before you splash out on a new one Id check the memory.

Well they're completely different, cause my broken rig is on an intel chipset and my second rig is AMD, they both use completely different CPUs/chipsets/RAM.

So unless both RAM are busted?

Ahh re read your original post, I see what you're saying about the old machine now. Well it is still possible it could be both the RAM sticks but is looking more likely to be PSU as thats the common element throughout.

ive just started having similar problem switch on pc but no display looked inside all fans working except gfx card fan (nvidia 260) ive also noticed no lights on keyboard and mouse and also router and is random when it will start only had the parts 4-5 months and dont know what to do (all purchased from oc) is this the same problem and ifso where do i send the psu to any help would be greatfull. im using a bequiet psu 650

How do you do Memtest?
How do you test RAM?
