got a strange problem over the last day reared its head.

This has happened on both my laptop and main computer, Which is V odd.

I am on broadband, on the laptop i have just one dial up connection which is for my mobile for when out and about. rest of the time it just connects wirelessly to my home network.
On the main pc, there is 2 connection box's. 1 - broadband and 1 - speedtouch usb modem (for if router ever packs up)

Now every now and then i get a dial up box apper on screen and have to go to IE Tools, connections and RE CLICK NEVER Dial a connection.

Why am i getting this suddenly coming up on screen and whats best way to stop it.

thank

Sounds like a Trojan/Spyware Dialer.

Try running: Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot and see if they pick anything up!...

I had this once after installing a program from a cover disk, every time I booted up my computer tried to connect!... Ran AA and SB-SaD and cleared out Loads of carp!... Doesn't do it now!

mmm installed and ran ad aware and spy bot on both machines, only things they found were about 50 - 65 tracking cookies, which i dont believe are anything to worry about,.

oh well not done it YET again

Normally this is caused due to somthing on your pc requesting internet access , have you change anything on your pc or laptop? installed any new programs or updates?

You could try a system restore, this will then indicate if its winodws causing this problem

Depends what you've got, some are easy to remove, some are near impossible meaning a fresh install is required. Had a couple, my own fault for getting them though.
