When I connect my dial up VPN to my SSG-140 I experience extremely slow download speeds

The SSG has a 15Mb ethernet circuit and the dial up vpn is coming from a 5mb ADSL connection, when I try to pull files down from any of the servers at head office it takes a very long time

I have been through this with JTAC and they applied some traffic shaping which helped with stability but did not change the speed, JTAC told me that it is because of a restriction with netscreen remote and its dial up adapter being 'digital' therefore is limited to a maximum of 64kbps

I have tried a couple of other VPN clients and experience the same thing, is it really true that a dial up vpn is going to be resticted like this?

Not a problem I've had personally, it's slower than optimal but not that slow. I've avoided NSR for a while now though, it's not a nice bit of software. I don't understand quite what they're saying but if JTAC say so then there's probably some truth to it, they're good...

I've tried a couple of other bits of software too, NSR is truly gash but I thought JTAC might be able to help if it was their software on the client side

There does not seem to be much choice of IPSeC windows clients out there

JTAC are usually great but not sure this time

Problem is it's not their software, it's rebranded safenet stuff. They're not interested in fixing it either as SSL VPN is the way forwards in their minds. It's a pain...

800k I think

Doesn't matter which client I use I get the same problem across all of them

I reverted to NSR so that Juniper couldn't try and blame the client software
