It was on a limited release in america, around 1000 cinemas iirc so there aren't going to be many showing it here

Hate to say this, being a huge Romero fan for the last 25 or so years (especially his zombie movies), but I've just got back from seeing this & was sorely disappointed.
I wish this was George parodying his own work, but fear it was not. It started out taking a little swipe at today's horror movies, only to fall foul to their mistakes as well. I know the film is low budget, but I expected better - the 'acting' is poor, the plot a mess & the attempts at humour (mostly) fail.
There were even a couple of moments where I had my head in my hands thinking 'You've got to be kidding me!'.
Some people will probably kid themselves that the overall cheesiness was deliberate, but I don't think you could honestly beleive that - no matter how big a Romero fan you are.

Remero is a victim of his own success, he has been placed on such a high pedestal that it is almost impossible for him to come up with the goods now.
The flim maker newcomers have no such issues, they might aspire to the lofty heights of Romero (I hope not for this very reason) but they don't have the notion of having to feed the hungry undead followers snarling and ankle-breaking at his every move.

BloodyL - I think you're correct in that it's almost impossible for Romero to match the quality of his earlier zombie movies, but I'm afraid that he was way off the mark with this one.
The movie just didn't gel at all, and the subtext of paranoia & the war on terror was handled in such a hamfisted way, it was almost embarrasing.

I agree with this, and I too am a huge Romero fan. I nearly walked out half way through, which is very rare for me. I was literally cringing every 10 minutes. I honestly didn't see any redeeming features. He perpetuates at least 3 of my most hated current trends (supposed hand held POV, mass internet reference, and the use of titles at the beginning to give random facts; "1 in 10 Americans use the emergency services", "Human beings have hair on their arms" kind of nonesense). Overall greatly disappointing. d+, could try much harder..

True, but he's had that since NOTLD I would imagine and Dawn and Day of the dead well... sucked in the same way that deSade has mentioned, cheese, bad acting, and a lot of 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. Mostly cheese and bad acting though.
My theory is that some zombies will have the ability to sprint, these would be recently bitten victims with which rigor mortis has not set in. Zombies who rise from the grave however do not this have this ability due to setting in of rigor mortis.

I actually really enjoyed it 
Yes there were unbelevable characters and situations and yes the acting wasn't stellar, but I enjoyed it for what it was. A documentary of a group of people who were there when the epedemic started.
I think I have seen enough Zombie films in my time to not be scared by them in the traditional sense of "oh my god we're trapped and there are millions outside banging onthe door" So I enjoyed this alternative take on the genre (also seen in the super low budget The Zombie Diaries.
I give it 3.5/5
