Anyone else play Dice Masters, either Yu-Gi-Oh or Marvel?

I've become completely addicted to Marvel Dice Masters after picking up the Uncanny X-Men starter pack, and so has the wife.

Which is pretty good, as any time I'm in town and I'm like "boosters!" she goes "YES!", whereas with Magic: The Gathering, she's like "well... if you have to, I suppose..."

Got a pretty good collection for splitting between the pair of us so far, and pulled a Spiderman Super Rare yesterday, so that's in the bank for trading power down the line.

Can't friggin' wait for the Age of Ultron set to release, and of course when D&D Dice Masters hits I'm gonna be ALL OVER THAT.

The game itself is so much fun, like Magic but with added random elements of the dice rolls, and the dexterity-esque feeling of pulling your dice from a bag rather than cards from a shuffled deck. It's just SO GOOD.

Though she beats my ass at it something shocking, like 90% of the damned time.

So who here is an addict, and what's your preferred team and dice layout?

The D&D one is already available in the UK in some places. I've not tried any of them yet, but if I could find a regular game, I'd probably get addicted pretty quickly!

Well, I could buy x3 starter packs and a 90 booster job lot and see what fun we could have.

Not that I actually want to get them into paying out for rubbish, but it really could be a great way of getting them into the feel of D&D and some ideas for some future role playing, hmmmm.

Pretty easy.

1) Go into game store.
2) Buy Quarriors.
3) Notice you've bought a complete near-identical game for about one-quarter the price.

I was thinking earlier, FFG should make their own 'living dice game' using one of their IP's.

I abhor the idea of any full on collectible style game. I'll happily pay for games and expansions but I don't want to continually sink money into one thing.

It's almost like the F2P games that urge you to continually buy in game currency.

I borrowed my brother's X-Men vs Avengers Dice Masters (which I got him for Christmas and hasn't been used yet!) and I've convinced the missus to give it a go over the weekend (I was right when I thought she wouldn't want to try the D&D version, but didn't mind the Marvel one).

I started reading the rules last night and then realised I was all ruled-out after a session of D&D and gave up on the first page :D hopefully we'll get a game in this weekend and I can comment on how simple the gameplay is.

I haven't played Quarriors, but from what I've heard it's actually very different in game play from Dice Masters. I'll look into more deeply now, though.

Picked up D&D Starter Set and a few boosters last week. The character abilities are somewhat more complex as standard than the X-Men series, so there's a fair bit more to think about in terms of reserving energy on your turn.

The wife isn't as enamoured with the D&D skin as she is with the X-Men (not surprising given that she's a Marvel fanatic). I'll probably pick up a mavity feed for D&D along with a few random boosters, and a mavity feed for Uncanny X-Men (or maybe Age of Ultron when it lands) and call it a day on the actual serious collection building at that point.

If anyone who's trying it out hasn't already, I'd really recommend nabbing the X-Men Play Mat graphic from Boardgamegeek, and printing out and laminating a couple. Makes it so much easier in terms of visualising your turn.

And the Tarrasque in D&D is bad ass. He's gonna be a team permanent for me.

As an aside, my local game store had stock of the Boo and Minsc promo card/die for D&D Dice Masters, and happily gave me one when I bought a few boosters. Well chuffed at that.
