Hi guys, looking for a dictaphone which basically doesn't have to be extraordinary but need it to be able to transcribe the interviews/words on to the computer? i.e. tape recording on to Microsoft Word...

Doesn't windows have a speech to text facility?, just buy one, plumb it into the line in on the soundcard, fire up the S2T engine and bingo?

I think some Olympus dictaphones come with a bundled copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking, so you just bung it in the line in port of your sound card and let it work away.

Ought to get a copy of that, now that I think about it. Transcribing interviews manually is just painful.

I've been reading around and Dragon do seem to be the safest bet so far with reviews and recommendations. The smart phone might be a nice thing to look at...

So let me get this straight, is it possible to plug the Dictaphone straight in to the line-in and have the software (e.g. Dragon) pick up the words and transcribe them??
