Right, I've found various offerings on Google, but I was hoping that some people on here might have first hand experience that they're willing to share.

I've got some conference audio recordings which I need to produce a set of minutes for (charity event). These come to several hours long so I'd rather not manually transcribe them all, and I'm after some software that will take the .mp3 file input and produce some sort of text output as an automated process, which I'll then clean up manually.

Anyone used anything like this? All information gratefully received!

Cheers.

Which version of Windows are you using? Do this and see what happens.

I'm on W7, so it's got the standard speech recognition built in, but I'm not aware of how I can make it quickly process through an MP3 file?

I'm just trying out this speech recognition myself. After going through the tutorial it
seems to work pretty well. It only took about 5 minutes to type this. :D

Edit: not sure of how I'd do it with an MP3, short of putting a mic in front of the speakers.

Edit again: I just tried it with the "Google Wave Developer Preview", just the first 45 seconds. This is what it came up with:

Ladies and gentlemen plays our Allies and Iranian handguns, what good morning everyone got the game two of the line of all resigned yesterday I hope you join recessions and I hope you enjoyed the standpoint of yesterday and promised you a surprise witness more this morning who will surprise B are bound to a eight personal communication and collaboration tool in an airy room because I
