Did anyone get a refurb card?

Got my friend a GTX460 1gb. Surprised it was a PNY enthusiast edition, works absolutely fine except the metal shroud vibrates on the heatsink and makes a high pitch vibration noise but my friend doesnt mind it :)

Absolute bargain for £89.99

I'm going to grab a 9600GT tomorrow (assuming I manage to get time to nip to OC/UK unlike last Saturday.... :o)

If it works, great! - If it don't, It goes back. Just like it would if it was some £1k monster card!

I had a 570gtx but it's gone back for rma/refund.
They do have a years warranty so it's not as if it's 'sold as seen' pot luck.
I did'nt want another 2nd hand card so have spent a bit more on a new card.
Service has been fine so far though.

Depends on the card & price I guess, as far as I'm concerned, £35 for a 9600GT for my #3 machine is an absolute steal. :)

I had a refurb 480 gtx. Has gone back for refund
I asked if they could replace it with another and was told none in stock and probably not going to get any more in

Think ill just spend a bit more and get a 570 instead

I think by 'refurb' it means that they are tested to make sure they power on and boot to windows and thats it. Would be nice to actually test them in benchmarks to make sure they are ok

I bought a GTX570 and after a few concerns it's abosolutley fine bar one of the DVI slots not working, which aint the end of the world for me, however some could see this as an issue but the saving in the region of £100, not with me.

Although was slightly annoyed that the cooler was different but OcUK weren't to know until they received stock, although I read that Gibbo posted they could be refunded but to save hassle I've just removed my soundcard as it restricted airflow.... (Shouldn't of bought a micro board)

I'm just glad I didn't get MooSey-UK's..... :( but maybe that would have worked in my setup, who knows.

If you do decide to buy one, ask about to see if other people have similar setups to you to determine how they perform, MooSey-UK and Jinjur both have Q6600 LG775 setups and both had problems with their GTX570's where my Phenom 955 AM2+ setup is now rocking!, anyway just a theory.

Careful. I've seen core failures cause dead DVI ports before now, and the card died not long after. I'd personally RMA it.

Got two GTX480s. One came damaged but was likely in transit and I sent the working one back too as I was short on cash. The one that wasn't damaged worked fine.

I've had the card in use 9/ 10 days is that still possible?

Indeed. My 9800GT was overheated by my brother regularly, after a few cycles I managed to stop it and sort the overheating issue. But the DVI port and fan control failed. A year later the second port also failed.

Reflowed it and both ports were working, however the first port artifacted and went completely dead not long later.

It may end up being fine mate, but with that amount of money I wouldn't like to risk it.

EDIT: That said, the problem may lie elsewhere and just be isolated to that one port. But if you're adamant the port's dead completely I'd still send it back.

Strange how my new Twin FROZR is ok.....

There you go then, me and my theory....

So after you getting me paranoid, I've gone under the desk and switched ports, fortunately it worked so maybe it was before I had the drivers installed, does leave me thinking though.

Picked up a re-furb 9600GT from OC/UK yesterday, it came sealed in an anti-static bag, and on examination, looked absolutely brand new!

Labeled as a PNY, I installed it last night in my #3 rig, it runs superbly. :)

primarily, I wanted a 3rd machine that would run Battlefield 2 at full detail, with AA, but I was loathe to spend too much (my friends / visitors get the benefit of the machine not I!) one of these struck me as a far safer bet than a used card from either the MM or flea bay etc - 12 mth warranty to boot.

I've even installed BFBC2 and it runs very well - perfectly playable even in a full server - (albeit with settings on medium / low @ 1208x1024, 2xAA etc)

£35 to turn a machine used for e-mail & web browsing back into a full on gaming rig! - I'm well chuffed with it! :)

So, from my own personal experience, I'd say if your in the market for a cheap card with a warranty but funds are tight, look no further than the refurb range!

Nice one OC/UK. :)

I got a GTX570............as has been well discussed on here, it was a PNY "Enthusiast Edition" one but was non reference, smaller PCB, non vapour chamber cooling etc.

As such, it has been RMA'd and will be on its way back on monday :(
