Launch was a complete farce.


Logged on to the nvidia site "Notify me" is displayed...F5...F5...F5...."Buy now"''''''pause then sold out!


Scalpers took the lot in less than a minute.. ....went to Over Clockers...site crashed .


Nvidia did two Days worth of embargoes only for the Scalpers to clear out all the stock in less than a second ....complete farce.

Odd how Overclockers seem to have hiked their prices now!
 
Maybe AMD aren't in any rush to show anything because they knew Nvidia don't and won't have any real volume any time soon. These companies always seem to know exactly what the others are doing at all times.

Yep.

Absolute disgrace if i'm honest by nvidia.... not even the most basic of protections against bots / scalpers.
 
There is a well known Twitter account for a sneaker bot that has been gloating all day about how many orders they were able to place with Nvidia to then flip. According to Reddit some were able to order an FE but it does seem like the bots got to the rest.
 
Pretty sure it went to out of stock before 2pm but here is the interesting thing te founders edition is slower and hotter than the rtx 3080 eagle that i ordered so i am not bothered. Considering cancelling my order if OCUK cant fix the order though to free it up for someone else and will wait for the new amd cards instead may be done with nvidia.

How about ebay takes action specifically against scalpers? just remove their ads. Anyone selling a brand new product on day 1 way over RRP gets a temp ban. Solve the problem over night.

But ofc that won't happen cause ebay is a grubby trashcan company that deserves to go bankrupt if i'm honest.
 
Hmm, something is telling me that there has to be a reason for a launch this bad. It's so unlike Nvidia to clearly rush a launch, and infuriate their loyal customers.

If they had delayed a few weeks, there would have been thousands of cards at each retailer, and people would have been happy. Sure, they'd still sell out, but thousands would be getting cards on Friday to play this with weekend.

The only thing I can think of, is that they are desperate to beat AMD to the chase. They must know something about the RX6000, and want to get the orders secured before AMD shows it's hand. Though, given AMD's track record, this seems exceedingly unlikely that they'd actually pull of an update - a cheaper, faster card, with working drivers and acceptable thermals/acoustics.

Hmm. Time will tell I guess!

On the plus side, the FE doesn't really seem that great in terms of thermals/acoustics. A bunch of reviews of the Asus TUF today (which is a relatively low end custom SKU) and it absolutely wipes the floor with the FE. Runs 10-15 degrees cooler at the same noise level on the OC BIOS, whilst the quiet BIOS runs around 5 degrees cooler at much lower noise levels. The fancy fan setup is just no substitute for a massive 2.7-slot heatsink.

Yup, better card at the same price, so given the choice I wouldn't have bought a founders anyway, glad they "sold out" instantly.

It would only move the scalpers elsewhere, as long as there is scarcity and arbitrage opportunity scalpers will exist unfortunately.
 
Nvidia have trolled their customers big time with this. I love my gaming and tech, but after sitting out the disgrace that was the 2000 series, I'm not sure I can stomach any more of this carry on.

Honourable mentions to the retailers with their gouging and the absolute state of people steaming in like crack addicts.

It just feels like a massive con that I can't be bothered encouraging.

Why would eBay do this? eBay makes money from their auctions, in listing fees and final value fees, etc.

Every company on this Earth is at best amoral :p

Honourable mention also to the people here who said they'd join the scalpers because "money is money, yo".

One even called them "entrepreneurs", ffs :D :D

For those of us not interested in buying, it's been an entertaining watch. I'd call it a tragicomedy.
