Did I apply thermal paste correctly?

Hi guys,
My Athlon 64 was running a bit hot recently, so I googled around and one of the suggested fixes was reapplying thermal paste.

I used the dot method on the CPU, but I don't think it looks right. Did I use too little?

The trick is, if you can see the gold arrow on the corner, then you need moar.

Are you sure you put the cpu in the right way up? the pins should be facing up you know...
