Well, as my bike was being MOT'd today, I picked up a charger kit for my controller and a 120GB drive to upgrade from my crap 20GB...

Argos had it on discount from £89.99 to £59.99.

I thought this was a good price. But my mate thinks differently.

It was more a impulse buy as when I see them cheap on the interwebs, I can never be bothered to checkout and all that and put up with waiting for it. But, boredom forced me to buy it :D lol

Ripped off? not at all. The reason it is reduced is because the 250GB HDD's are coming out in a few weeks for £75, so decide for yourself whether it was worth it and tell him to STFU :p

Other than the fact that the charger kits are a bit pants

That's a matter of very varied opinion. I have three, two of which are almost as old as they could possibly be, and they are all working perfectly.

With regards to the OP, personally I would have waited 3 weeks or so and gotten the 250GB hard drive, but that's just me.

I wasn't referring to the fact that they're sometimes faulty, more that rechargeable batteries + a quick charger of a similar value will have far more life per charge than a play n charge kit and therefore imo it's a better bang for your buck.

But yes, tis all opinion an' all.

Been using my play and charge kit since launch, still going strong. Can't be bothered faffing around wtih batteries.

Personally I would have waited and bought a 250GB drive for a few quid more.

Ah, apologies, didn't think of it like that :).

I'd weigh that against the fact that you can plug the charge cable directly into your controller while playing and not miss a beat, which I suppose you could counter by having more than two rechargable batteries. Damn, now that seems like a better idea.

I've actually got a dozen rechargeable batteries now, i bought a quick charger (charges in 10 mins) that came with 4 batteries, then bought two 4 packs of batteries too. Everything that's battery powered of mine is running off of them. In total it probably cost about £30 for the lot, but as i say all of my remotes, Wii stuff and 360 stuff run off of them.

How MS can charge £75 for 250GB is beyond belief, you can get 1.5TB for that over in the real world.

I would be impressed if you could find me a 2.5" drive with a capacity of 1.5TB anywhere to be honest ;).

Though I agree, they are still overcharging, just not quite as badly now as you're making out.
