Hey everyone,

I got a question cause im worried its probably fine but i thought id ask to make sure..
Today i wanted to overclock my ryzen 5 1500x
But i forgot i had to put my offset to - instead of + plus to tweak my vcore a little lower but i accidently bumped it up to 1.6vcore so it was set to 1.6vcore i saved bios rebooted then went back into bios i then saw my temp was 45c and vcore was 1.6 so i RIGHT AWAY changed it back to 1.2vcore so in the end it was at 1.6 for maybe 2minutes top!
Pc works fine but did i just kill it some what? Is it fine or??

If it's still working then should be fine mate, may have slightly lowered the lifespan but they last longer than you'll keep it anyways.

If it only hit 45c before you noticed and it's now working ok you'll be fine. If you'd killed the chip you wouldn't get any boot now.

it will probably become self aware and kill everyone within a week,

also you left the gas on

also you answered your own question

also it will be fine

But the guy above says i lowered the lifespan did i rly just do that?
I hope not it was rly for maybe less than 2 minutes even and it was only 45c when i dialed it back down..
Did i just knock off years cuz of it?
I was planning on having this at least few years maybe more untill i can afford a better one

Really u sure i lowered the life? It was maybe less then 2 minutes even and when i dialed it down it was 45c only i would say it was about 1 minute to be honest i noticed it right after the reboot
So it wasnt long at all

It won't have made any tangible impact to the lifespan of the CPU. 45 degrees is WELL within operating temperature, and so it'll be fine

Didn't read the temp part mate, apologies.
all good just scared me for a min ha but its fine now man im gonna upgrade my gpu soon to a budget card is the gtx 1050 ti a good one combined with ryzen 5 1500x and 8gb ddr4 ? would i be able to play doom at least in vulkan?
mainly be playing world of warcraft tho sigh since i got back into it heh after 7 years not playing

Over time too high voltage degrades CPU no matter the temperature.
And if voltage exceeds some manufacturing process/silicon level design dependant limits it would destroy CPU pretty much instantly by frying it at component level.
Simply because insulations get broken down shorting circuitry etc.

But in the past AMDs have been more voltage tolerant with some uses of very high voltages in extreme overclocking.
And at least exposure time was short without temperature going high.

Over time yes, but this was a matter of minutes
