Did squats; didn’t die

A break from my usual log as it’s 36 days until my birthday so let’s give myself 36 days of squats! I’ll try to hit at least 100kg every day with more work on the heavy days. My best is 120kg (@74kg BW) but nearer 110kg at the moment.

Well happy with that! 115kg was a bit crumpled at the bottom but never in doubt or hurt at all. Just 5kg off my 1RM which I hit a year ago IIRC

3x 102.5kg singles - haven’t you heard, 102.5 is the new 100. I’m not doing much volume so not getting sore but the >100kg weights are feeling really nice.

Added 5kg to this years 5RM on the way to some volume which was really easy actually; 95 felt like 75. There’s more there when it’s time to push it :)

Trying for a new PB. I could probably get more from my leg drive so I need to dip a little lower and keep the bar close to me.
 
Contrary to the title, I did die or at least my right shoulder did / has. No obvious moment when it went but I’m quite I’m uncomfortable when squatting so it’s not worth pressing on for a make up goal.

What I didn’t learn though is that squatting every day is great, because;
It grooves technique - I fee better with lots of practise and so something like 531 doesn’t work for me
It increases the chance of hitting a good day and hence PBs. I ride my bike 32 miles most week days and so some evenings are just better for strength than others. The days I didn’t fancy squatting were sometimes my best
Admittedly this last one works for me as my gym is 30s walk away but it got me out of a lazy evening routine when you know you need to go squat. That’s probably the best thing I took from it

Have a go - do some shoulder rehab and you should be fine. I’m off to start Triathlon training now :o
