Did the cold affect your car ?

When it is cold the passat runs on 3 cylinders untill its warm, not sure what thats about, if you rev it to 1100rpm for the first minute it doesnt do it :S

mine sounds like it probably runs on three cylinders when it's very cold and it's been left outside overnight.
sounds horrific and chucks out ridiculous amounts of blue smoke. sounds like it's misfiring too.
i don't rev it for a minute though, i just drive off and it goes away

Blue smoke is never a good thing.

meh, it's an old diesel without a particulate filter :p
it's only slightly blue, and it's only cold startup and when sitting idling after said startup

it's common on the pd150 apparently.
dealer says its nothing to worry about, and the engine is one of the few things that has been absolutely perfect on this car.

our old E39 525d used to chuck out a nice little could have blue smoke on cold starts too

That doesnt seem right either - the 530d doesnt do it. Infact the only car I've had that did was my old Xantia with 4 knackered glowplugs.
the glowplugs could have been on their way out, or something else. doesn't really matter though as it was a company car.

my glowplugs could be on their way out, but it has started first time every time since i bought it so i'm not really bothered.

Absolutely no issues here what so ever.

Starts first time, every time (within a second of the key turning) and the doors etc work fine.
