Did the cold affect your car ?

One press = Traction off, stability on.
Hold = Everything off.

I don't like the car trying to predict where I want to go, as it gets it wrong.

Should you be reaching the point at which your various traction and stability systems activate during normal driving?

330d, and no, it's not mental on a 330d or a 330i. It's not mental even on an M3.

Sure it is, even a slight incline and the rears loose traction, even when driving VERY carefully. I've even had the rears loose traction and the car go backwards when just using the engine idle in 2nd having the system fully off. Having it 'half off' enabled me to get up the hill.

This

And the fact that diesels sound even worse at idle when they first start up in the cold

I found the 120d was better for that than most, slightly different engine note when cold but not the "DURDURDURDURDURDUR" that the Fabia gives off in the morning.

Mine's actually started playing up over the past couple of days, it's got it's service next week so it'll have to stay happy until then.

Nope, one press is traction control off. That is what it states in the manual.

The whole point of the DTC system is to allow you to travel on inclines and slippery untreated roads. It does this by allowing a little bit of wheel spin and by disabling the stability system from braking individual wheels - which is counter productive when moving (as well as providing a more 'sporty drive'). Turning DSC fully off turns traction control off completely.

Edit: This may be different on the e46. Basing it on the e90 3 series and a 120D.

Started no problems, and since I've got a bonnet vent and lots of snow I made a LOT of steam.

Also sailed past people who were spinning all over the place with my 4wd.

Mine just runs a little lumpy for a short while, untill the ECU decides the engine is warm enough.

Not too much to complain about from a 25 year old car.

Mine started fine ;) , does feel like its firing on 3 cylinder if you're in traffic queing though :p

I did only do 68mpg going to leicester though, we have hit sub 70mpg trips with this temp, i can barely get the car in lean burn thanks to the temps.

ive just read on the ITR forum that if you muck around in the snow with a dc2 you can

break the LSD:( so i will be careful but yeh was driving around 2am last night the roads were terrible near mine
