Did the thieves find my email?

So my backpack was stolen on the train, which had M1 MacBook Air. I fell asleep on the London Tube line called the Jubilee line, and when I woke up, my backpack was gone. I contacted TFL and the police, and they said they would check CCTV on the line and at the Tube station. Find My tracking showed that it was seen at the Hilton hotel. Later, it showed that it was seen slightly down the road. However, that was two days ago, and there are no new updates on the location.

Today, I got this suspicious iMessage from [email protected]. I spoke to Apple, and they said that is a fake account. When I click on the link, it goes to a very convincing iCloud login page. Obviously, I didn't enter my details. It looks like the thieves are trying to into my MacBook Air, hence they want the login.

My question is, how did the thieves find my contact? My MacBook is fully encrypted and locked with a strong password.

Was it on your laptop? As in, if you power it on does it give that email address if someone finds it? Something like ‘If found, contact <email address> for reward’?

Dude...just stop texting scammers. It is gone, forever, that is the end of it.
Don’t think it’s gone forever. British transport police obtained the footage of the guy who stole my MacBook. His face is clearly visible. So we’ll see how this plays out.

Thief probably sold it to someone who has access to an iCloud phishing service. Chance of retrieval is low, but best of luck.
