Hi

I havent seen or used x64 XP since about September 05, when I belive it was young, spotty, and nobody liked it. Did it ever get the drivers and support is so desperately needed when I last saw it?

Basicaly, is it a worthwhile upgrade to x86 XP? Or do the issues outweigh the benifits?

Cheers

yes. i've been using XP x64 for two months now and i've only encountered one device that doesn't have a driver, which is my TV card (Compro Videomate)

Other than that, everything is perfect.

Currnetly runnung an E6400 that will be OCed to 3.2Ghz, 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400, 8800GT on a GA-P965-DS3 Mobo. This is my main PC used for games etc. Im toying with the idea of another 2GB of DDR2 PC2-6400, and figured Id best get an x64 OS to make use of it. Ive got a Vista x64 install if I want to use it, but I dont really, going to give it another year or so yet to become a viable upgrade. I will probubly dual boot however.

It used to be a real pain for me. Problems with the XFI, also Saitek x45, there were a few other niggles as well. Went back to it again about 3 months a go and there are now solutions\support for everything I previously had trouble with. All is good.

So its worth ditching x86 XP for x64 and then moving to x64 Vista in the future?
Yes, if you have a copy of XP x64 to hand.
Check you can get the drivers you need first.

I've been using it for a while, and its a good solid OS. No issues at all.

I think you can upgrade to Vista x64 from it too.

If you are thinking of getting a 64-Bit OS consider Vista. Unless you need XP for software/hardware reasons.

Or the fact ive used Vista since leaked betas and never yet had a version that hasnt had issues. Ive got a Vista OEM key from Uni I havent yet used. Going to get an XP x64 key from uni also. Free software, I love it!
