I overclocked it in software it was my first attemp at graphics accelerator Ocing :) it was the voodoo 1 chipset purchased from Pc World cost something in the region of 100squids, I remember attaching a small fan to a pci blanking slot that I had attached to the blanking plate screw fixing point and bending it into position to cool the board lol more info innovative company its a shame they didn't survive but then nvidia wouldn't be as hailed as they are today only for 3dfx.

voodoo!!! i remeber those lol used to have a voodoo as a 2nd card back in the pentium 1/2 days :) good card at the time

thumbs up :D

3dfx we're awesome. I remember back in the day, (about 9 years ago now I think) I bought my first graphics card (TNT2 M64, AGP) and my best mate bought a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. I could never get over the fact that Unreal Tournament ran so much better with his Voodoo card, than it did with my TNT2.
But then it was an opposite story with Half-Life, because while we know Nvidia cards are the masters of OpenGL, my TNT2 totally smoked his Voodoo 3.

When I discovered overclocking (I was 13 lol) I was quite suprised at the performance gain I got from things like UT. My TNT overclocked pretty well, since it came with a fan installed, it never overheated. Although my mates Voodoo3 really didn't overclock at all since it had heat problems from the start. His computer was like a furnace without any overclocking at all lol.

So yeah, I never had the chance to overclock a Voodoo card, but I do have a mate who also had a Voodoo Banshee (still has it lol) and apparently it overclocked pretty well.

btw, thanks for that trip down memory lane :D

I Overclocked my Voodoo 3 3000 AGP although remember it getting very hot, no fan. I remember playing Unreal with it.

Great cards, I wish there was more competition in the graphics card market these days, we could do with another player.

I overclocked the Richerous 3D Voodoo1 card by 10mhz or something tiny and it died :( (thankfully this was only a few years ago so it was worthless anyway :p)

I remember my first Orchid Righteous Voodoo 1 card and I used to love the clicks that it made when a 3dfx game was loading :)

I think that the other brand at the time was a Diamond Monster

I had a voodoo 2 alongside my Matrox millenium (4Mb) AGP <one of the first AGP cards.
I prolly only needed a voodoo 1 4 meg card.

I still have the WickedGL drivers somewhere, that there the bees knees at the time.
I never ckocked it though.
I remember the difference it gave to Quake and Half Life was truly amazing.

I also remember the huge debate on whether to get either a Voodoo 5 or a Geforce 2 MX (I think)
The size of the Voodoo and the fact it didn't perform was there undoing.

had a voodoo 2 and a voodoo 3 3000

strapped a delta fan to the 3000 jsut to see what it could do, cant remember what it made it to but i was impressed lol

brilliant cards i remember moving from standard quake to glquake breathtaking

I remember that, it was the Geforce 2 GTS that was its direct competitor though wasn't it? It's main selling point was that it was one of the first cards to do FSAA but sadly it was DX6 only when DX7 was starting to gain popularity.
